The State of Grace

A one-woman work by Michaela Burger. Spoken word, song and movement.

Grace was a high-class sex worker who rose to meteoric fame on social media, branded as Australia’s best known sex worker globally. She was an activist and modern-day maverick, until suddenly, she died.

Multi-award winning artist Michaela Burger explores her legacy in this one-woman show. Through Grace’s unpublished writing — hip hop lyrics, poetry, monologues and musings — Burger unveils a life of wit, charm and a determination to decriminalise the sex industry.

Presenting Grace’s true story through spoken word, song and movement. Based on the life of Pippa O’Sullivan, aka Grace Bellavue, the project was entrusted to Michaela by Lyn O’Sullivan, Pippa’s mother. Developed with the support of House of Oz.
